OUR ROOTS
The roots between Farmer Marty and Farmer Kim are similar with both being born and raised in Southern California. Although both had grandparents who were farmers and harvesters in the San Joaquin Valley, neither of them actually grew up on a farm. Instead, they had the typical childhood opportunity of having a few fruit trees in their yard and the occasional summer gardens.
Having the desire to provide their family with fresh fruits and vegetables they moved to Temecula Wine Country to start their vision. The first year, Farmer Kim posted her harvest on her Facebook and to her surprise friends and family wanted to purchase their produce! The next year Farmer Marty planted more, again friends and family encouraged them to continue! What at first, they were calling 1st Fruits Garden, soon turned into 1stFruitsFarm! They certified the farm to sell at local farmers markets in 3 different counties. But surprisingly they never had to sell at a farmer’s market due to their incredible farm friends. They have also participated in local Farm to Table Dinners in the surrounding area. With a love for what they do, they enjoy sharing their experiences with others by providing classes and farm tours.
Funny Fact: They both remember having a horticulture class in middle school. and actually enjoyed it!
